Playing with LeBron James and Stephen Curry at the 2024 Olympics was a “completely different” experience

Playing with LeBron James and Stephen Curry at the 2024 Olympics was a “completely different” experience

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has accomplished what he set out to do: leading U.S. basketball to its fifth consecutive gold medal after the U.S. team defeated France in the final of the 2024 Olympic Games.

James was brilliant throughout the tournament, serving as the USA’s primary playmaker but also scoring points in crucial moments when the team needed him. James was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2024 Olympics and for good reason, as he was instrumental in every victory.

This version of Team USA’s roster was loaded with superstars, which was not the case with previous versions of the team. For example, the 2020 Olympics roster wasn’t quite as strong on paper, although players like Devin Booker made this year’s team.

Although Booker won his first gold medal in Tokyo, he reflected on how special it was for him to compete alongside Stephen Curry and James in Paris (via Marc J. Spears of Andscape):

It was truly a once in a lifetime experience to see both James and Curry on the international stage, and Booker seems to understand how lucky he is to play alongside them and watch them rack up win after win. Every tournament is unique in its own way, but USA Basketball was fortunate to have James, Curry and Kevin Durant leading the way in what was likely their last appearance for the program.

Booker is only 27 years old and should receive an invitation to the 2028 Olympic team, although that team will look very different compared to the 2024 team. The Olympics will be held in the USA in Los Angeles, which is the perfect place for USA Basketball to defend its status as the best basketball nation in the world.
