Player from the New Orleans Saints nomination list fits well with the Cowboys and Chiefs

Player from the New Orleans Saints nomination list fits well with the Cowboys and Chiefs

Fans will recognize that a New Orleans Saints running back is currently on the sensitive list of roster candidates before the final cuts are made.

The professional career of former third-round running back Kendre Miller has been so hampered by injuries that he is now finally on the verge of being eliminated after only eight appearances as a rookie.

This led Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report to list him as a good target for teams like the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs:

“Allen is right that it’s difficult to count on a player when he hasn’t been able to stay healthy. But Miller has enough potential to be worth the risk for some teams.

He had 273 yards on 51 total touches last season and has decent draft pedigree as a former third-round pick.”

For the Saints, it will come down to whether the team is willing to play the waiting game. Alvin Kamara still leads the order, and Jamaal Williams is also in the mix as a member of the one-two punch.

Other names like Jordan Mims could fill additional positions and may have a head start in the system over Miller, according to recent comments from Saints head coach Dennis Allen.

“He’s talented. I know he’s talented,” Allen said, according to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, “but I don’t know if he can learn the system. I don’t know if he can understand the system because I haven’t seen him out there yet.”

For the Saints, it’s a matter of numbers at a position where turnover is high and the number of players teams keep in the standings can vary widely. Availability is key, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Miller show up on a team like the Cowboys or Chiefs that is able to sign him while he’s gaining momentum.
