Pittsylvania County officials search for trucks stolen from businesses on Route 29

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. – The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after several trucks belonging to two different companies were stolen on Route 29 near Whiteoak Mountain in Chatham.

Officials said the first theft occurred around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, when a blue and white 2018 Peterbilt tractor and flatbed trailer, a maroon 2020 Kenworth dump truck and a black 2018 Kenworth dump truck were stolen from Atkinson Truck Sales.

Officials said both the blue and white 2018 tractor and the maroon 2020 Kenworth dump truck were found abandoned on Route 29, the latter near White Oak Church in Blairs and the other near Whiteoka Mountain in Chatham. The black 2018 Kenworth dump truck was not found.

Around the same time, according to the sheriff’s office, a lime green 2017 Peterbilt dump truck was stolen from J&J Truck Sales, also located on Route 29. Officers are still looking for that truck as well.
