Pitt transfer is a good bet to lead Colorado football in sacks this season

Pitt EDGE transfer Dayon Hayes was rated as the most likely sacks leader for Deion Sanders’ Colorado football program this fall. Scott Procter of the Coloradoan. Hayes has also been predicted to move to the NFL, as he is one of seven or eight NFL players Coach Prime believes will fit the Buffs’ defense.

“Hayes was virtually unblockable in the Buffs’ open practice last week and it’s likely he will record the most sacks in Sanders’ defense this fall,” Procter said. “If that happens, he will certainly find himself on the NFL draft lists.”

Sanders had previously thanked Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi – probably as a troll – for preparing Hayes and DL Samuel Okunlola for the game in Boulder.

“I want to digress a little bit and thank the head coach from Pittsburgh for really getting these young men ready for us… they’re really great players and they’re going to be professionals,” Sanders said in April (h/t About SI).

Narduzzi had criticized Coach Prime for making the wrong move in building his Buffs roster, and it’s fair to say that Sanders is fully committed to keeping Hayes and Okunlola, who Procter believes have the most potential of all the young players on the roster.

Coach Prime predicts that BJ Green will be a first-round talent and Warren Sapp can’t say enough good things about the ASU-DL transfer. Green is a star, and the coaches see it.

Otherwise he could not Putting Sapp into practice and have no consequences.

Colorado has several potential stars on defense, and Green is likely to shine the brightest on every play – although Hayes or Okunlola could end up with the most important stats.

Regardless of which players have the most eye-popping numbers, first-year defensive coordinator Robert Livingston has far more talent than Charles Kelly does in 2023. Especially in the trenches.
