Piolo Pascual and Jasmine Curtis-Smith star in Black Cap Pictures’ intense drama thriller “Real Life Fiction.” Directed by Paul Soriano and shot at the height of the pandemic, the film delves into the depths of the psyche of an actor who, after years of being one of the most celebrated figures of his time, begins to lose parts of his sense of self.
Pascual plays Paco in Real Life Fiction. An actor with a glittering career decides to write, direct and star in a film that inevitably brings him closer to his own demise before revealing that his truth may be far from what he has become. Paula (played by Curtis-Smith) comes in as his muse on and off screen, blurring the lines between what is real and what is not. The film explores the psyche and the limits to which actors push themselves and those around them in an attempt to find brilliance in madness.
In addition to Pascual and Curtis-Smith, Epy Quizon also plays Paco’s strict but considerate manager in “Real Life Fiction.” Also on board is filmmaker Lav Diaz (“Phantosmia”) as the owner of an eclectic pawn shop that Paco is drawn into in his search for his true self.
“Real Life Fiction” was produced by TEN17P, Viva Films and Spring Films and distributed by Black Cap Pictures. The film will be released exclusively at SM Cinemas nationwide on August 28. It is rated R16 by the MTRCB.
