Pima County launches new website to resolve arrest warrants

TUCSON, Arizona (13 News) – Pima County is making it easier for citizens to check the status of their arrest warrants.

This means people no longer have to wait to be contacted by the police or even arrested before they receive a warrant.

According to the Arizona Department of Criminal Justice, there are three types of warrants in Arizona: arrest warrants, search warrants, and citation warrants. Arrest and search warrants are the most common.

Arrest warrants are typically issued when a defendant fails to appear at a court hearing or fails to comply with a court order.

Executives report 13 News a website was issued because arrest warrants typically confuse people.

They often do not know what kind of arrest warrant it is or what they should do next to avoid a prison sentence.

This website doesn’t have to be just for you; it can answer all your questions about arrest warrants in general.

“One woman who was looking for resources had unfortunately lost a loved one who had a warrant out for her arrest,” said Kate Vesely, director of legal services for Pima County. “She was getting all these warrants and didn’t know where to turn. We were able to walk her through that process, get some information for her and actually help her get the situation handled on her behalf.”

This is also where the Clear My Warrant program and how to use it is discussed. If you meet the requirements, you will not have to serve any jail time, your warrant will be expunged, and you can get back on track with minimal disruption to your life.

To be eligible, you must be willing to comply with the terms of your probation and have no new felony or misdemeanor charges pending against you.
