This year, the globally popular Pokemon Franchise has taken off in a whole new way. In collaboration with ANA (All Nippon Airways), The Pokémon Company has released the world’s first in-flight safety video, featuring iconic characters such as Pikachu, Pichu, Emolga, Farfetch’d, Rowlet, Jigglypuff, Machop, and many more.
As detailed on Oricon, the above video discusses basic guidelines and information on seat belts, breathing masks, luggage, handheld devices, and bathroom use – all with the help of fan-favorite monsters from the Pokemon Universe. Pikachu first appears during the plane’s evacuation, where he is seen rushing to clear the runway alongside other passengers. The electric mouse Pokémon also teams up with his pre-evolved counterpart Pichu to show where passengers can find their life jackets in case of an emergency. Additionally, Pikachu stars in ANA’s Pokemon video “Disembarkation” – a cute live-action short film about Pikachu getting separated from his trainer in a busy airport. As the two search for each other, different parts of the airport are shown, giving first-time flyers a general idea of the facility’s layout. Eventually, with the help of ANA staff, Pikachu and his trainer are reunited so they can embark on their next trip together.
Because of PokemonTo increase Pokémon’s global appeal, ANA has made its first official Pokémon collaboration widely available to non-Japanese speakers. In addition to English and Japanese commentary, the company released the safety video with subtitle options for 18 different languages. The YouTube version was uploaded with the “auto-translate” feature, giving international viewers even more language options. A sign language interpreter can be heard in the video itself for hearing-impaired viewers. Aside from an occasional burst of joy from Pikachu, ANA’s disembarkation video contains virtually no dialogue.

Pikachu served as Pokemon‘S Main mascot since the franchise debuted in 1996. Until last year, the Pokemon The anime mainly revolved around Pokémon trainer Ash Ketchum, his legendary buddy and their exciting journeys through the nine regions of the world.
