Opinions about the Philadelphia Phillies farm system vary depending on who you ask, but a recent list shows that some of their players are particularly highly valued.

Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report compiled a list of the most promising prospects aged 20 or younger. The list included three Phillies players.

Infielders Starlyn Caba and Aiden Miller were joined on the list by outfielder Justin Crawford, both of whom are highly regarded in the franchise’s future plans.

Caba only just made it into the top 10 with 25th place, but it is still a great honor for the former national player.

He is in the second year of his career as a young professional. So far, he has a slash line of .257/.427/.335 after 109 games.

The 18-year-old shortstop has struggled to adjust to Single-A, however, as he has a .177/.313/.177 record and has yet to hit an extra-base hit in 19 games.

What has worked well is his speed. He has 49 stolen bases this year. The Dominican Republic native is developing into a speedster who will put his batting average above his hitting power.

Next on the list was Miller, another shortstop, at No. 14. He is considered the best player in Philadelphia’s farm system in MLB’s talent database, but Bleacher Report does not.

His calling card as a junior is his swing and arm strength. He has worked his way up to High-A for most of the year and has a .262/.376/.455 average in the minors this season.

What was shocking, since the 20-year-old hadn’t shown it at all before this year, was his speed. He already has 21 stolen bases. He could develop into someone who can last 20-20 seasons.

At number 11 was Crawford, one of the most promising young players this year. He was the 17th pick in the 2022 MLB Draft and would probably go a little higher today if things went differently.

He has handled the transition to Double-A well. In 24 games, he has a slashing line of .300/.349/.410, which is not much different than what he had previously in High-A.

While he still doesn’t look like someone who hits home runs on a regular basis, his velocity is at a whole new level. He’s hit seven home runs this year, 36 of them in the minors.

The future looks bright for the Phillies, even if their farm system is not mentioned too often.
