We’re all trying to get by on a budget, especially in this economy. I especially try to save money where I can, but sometimes I perk up when I hear about a ~life-changing~ purchase. That’s exactly what happened when I came across this Reddit thread sharing purchases under $100 that people believe will actually change your life. Here’s what some people said:

.“A taxi ride home if you’ve had too much to drink.”

.“A sunrise alarm clock, believe me, it’s worth it. Waking up with light instead of that annoying phone alarm is just different and much better for my mood.”

.“Electric toothbrush. Your future self will thank you.”

.“A decent kitchen knife. It’s an absolute game changer for slicing onions properly without them being crushed by a dull blade.”

.“Install a carbon monoxide detector in your bedroom. In the rare event (one in a million) that an appliance or heater malfunctions, you will be warned in time so you can escape before you suffocate in your sleep.”

.“Good pillow and good sheets. You will spend a third of your life on them.”

.“A heated blanket. It can save you a lot of money in the winter and make you more comfortable. It can change your life because who can afford to heat their house all day long in the winter?”

.“Automatic tire pump: a life saver for someone like me with back problems. Bring your own modem. Not only does it save on the rental fee, but in my experience the connection is better than the cheap junk from Comcast. Rotary shaver. It saved me the hassle/expense of a trip to the hairdresser. Rechargeable AA/AAA batteries with charger. The initial cost is obviously higher than disposable batteries, but in the long run it’s worth it in my opinion. And finally a TV antenna with USB amplifier. If you live in an area with good coverage like a city, entertainment is basically free after you buy it.”

.“100% cotton bath towels, also known as giant towels, and a diatomaceous earth bath mat. The large towels dry you faster and make regular towels look like washcloths. The diatomaceous earth bath mat is as strong as a cutting board and absorbs moisture instantly.”

.“As bad as it sounds, Instacart Premium saved me so much time and allowed me to work overtime at the office simply because I didn’t have to go shopping after work.”

.“For me, an electric knife sharpener. I’ll never be the guy with the insanely sharp Damascus steel knives that I can slice a tomato hair thin with, BUT I can sharpen things so I don’t crush them, my wrists get less tired and my life is easier. It’s made a huge difference to me and as a side effect, my mother-in-law is now afraid of my knives and doesn’t follow my cooking. I’d love to learn how to sharpen knives one day, but it has made cooking a pleasure again.”

.“A bathrobe, seriously. I have an Alexander del Rosa bathrobe. It’s super thick and incredibly comfortable. I wear it in the winter and don’t even need the heat on. It cost about $70.”
