Paris Hilton sparked heated reactions when she posted a video of her 19-month-old son Phoenix without a life jacket on a catamaran.
In the TikTok shared on Wednesday, Hilton’s little boy can be seen crawling and running around the boat in a cute burgundy outfit while his famous mom filmed him.
However, critics in the comments section focused more on the fact that Hilton Phoenix was not wearing life jackets.
“Mom, please tell him to always wear a life jacket on a boat!!,” one person wrote. “These things happen. That’s why they’re called accidents.”
“I’m so excited to see him not in a life jacket!! You can never be too safe on the water!” wrote another.
“Walking over the net and into the open water scared me to death,” said another fan.
A fourth person wrote: “This is making me nervous. He needs a life jacket. I’m so worried about him.”
Another comment called Hilton’s video from Phoenix “incredibly creepy,” and someone else said they had “heart palpitations” when they saw the 1-year-old without a life jacket.
Hilton eventually responded to the concerns in a comment on the video.
“Hey mommies, thanks for the advice and for always looking out for my #CutesieCrew,” she wrote.
“It’s a big boat and my husband and I follow him everywhere and watch him like hawks,” Hilton continued. “My babies are my world.”
The famous personality has Phoenix with her husband Carter Reum. They welcomed Phoenix in January 2023 through a surrogate.
The couple also have a nine-month-old daughter, London, who was born to a surrogate in November 2023.
Hilton gushed about Phoenix while sharing the one-minute boat video, which was set to Ed Sheeran’s song “Photograph.”
“Watching Phoenix explore the world has been so special to me. I’m so grateful to be a #SlivingMom,” Hilton’s caption read.
After Phoenix’s birth, Hilton had to defend herself against haters who made fun of the newborn’s head.
“There are some sick people in this world,” she commented on a video of her son in October 2023. “My angel is in perfect health.”
She added: “And yes, of course he went to the doctor, he just has a big brain.”
In a lengthy message on her Instagram story, the former “The Simple Life” star said the comments about Phoenix were “unacceptable” but unfortunately “unavoidable” given that she is in the public eye.
“This hurts my heart more than words can describe,” Hilton wrote.
Hilton enjoys being a mother of two, but has also made it clear that she wouldn’t mind having another child – especially another daughter.
“I would love to have a sister for London because my sister and I have such a close relationship,” Hilton told E! News in April, referring to her older sister Nicky Hilton, 40.
“I don’t know, I’m just enjoying them both so much right now. But that would be really great,” she added.
