Packers vs. Broncos, Week 2 preseason game thread

Packers vs. Broncos, Week 2 preseason game thread

Unfortunately for Green Bay Packers fans who wanted to see their star quarterback in action tonight, Jordan Love will not be playing. The Packers play the Denver Broncos in the second game of the 2024 preseason tonight, but Love and many of the starting lineups will remain on the sidelines after some competitive practice between the two teams on Friday.

That being said, Packers fans don’t have to look far to the starting quarterback position to find reasons to tune in tonight. And that’s not even the case: The battle for the backup quarterback spot will continue to take center stage at Mile High Stadium, as Sean Clifford and Michael Pratt will battle for the position behind Love tonight. Both players performed well in the Packers’ season opener in Cleveland last week and will look to build on those plays tonight.

The kicking competition will also continue, perhaps with some more long-range attempts in Denver’s higher elevation. Both Anders Carlson and Greg Joseph had good days at Friday’s practice, as both hit their attempts from relatively long distances. However, that came after both players struggled on Wednesday in the team’s last full practice of the week in Green Bay.

Like last week, wide receiver and safety will be interesting positions to watch as the Packers continue to work on finding their key players for those positions. The trio of Malik Heath, Bo Melton and Grant DuBose will get plenty of playing time again today, while the rotation of safeties between Javon Bullard, Evan Williams and Anthony Johnson, Jr. should continue to be an exciting revolving door.
