Those of us who have dogs can probably all agree that these pups are official members of our family. And that means there’s probably nothing we want more than to have them by our side at all times.

Between restaurants and bars, hiking trails, and luxury pet grooming and shops, there are so many pet-friendly places in our area, but you just need to know where to find them. To help you get started, we’ve compiled lists of all of these must-visit places. Plus, we’ve taken an in-depth look at the most popular dog breeds in North Jersey and delved into what makes New Jersey such a dog-friendly state.

We here in New Jersey really love our dogs, and while residents of the state probably have their own preferences when it comes to their favorite dog breeds, there are only a few that can officially claim the title of the Garden State’s most popular breeds.

The American Kennel Club and U.S. News and World Report have each released their own rankings of the most popular dog breeds in New Jersey in 2024. Read the rankings and find out if your dog is among the state’s most popular pups.

In recent years, more and more people in New Jersey have been taking their dogs everywhere, from restaurants and bars to department stores and pharmacies. The Garden State was also named the eighth most dog-friendly state in 2024 and boasts more than 2,000 dog-friendly establishments, over 1,700 dog-friendly restaurants and nearly 400 dog-friendly hotels.
