A recently released bodycam video shows the disturbing interaction between Orange County officials and a man accused of Beheading of his parents.

The gruesome murder occurred on the morning of July 9 in a trailer park along the 32,000 block of Alipaz Street in San Juan Capistrano. A niece of the victims called police after the suspect, Joseph Brandon Gerdvil, 41, sent his cousin photos of his mutilated parents, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

When officers arrived, they discovered the bodies of 79-year-old Antoinette Gerdvil, 77-year-old Ronald Walter Gerdvil, and the couple’s Chihuahua. One of the victims’ heads was lying on the counter.

After allegedly assaulting a maintenance worker, Gerdvil was observed by another officer riding a golf cart on a bike path about three miles from the trailer park. He eventually got out of the golf cart and threw a shovel at the officer’s vehicle.

Shortly thereafter, one of the officers who had first been called to the RV arrived at Gervdvil’s home and confronted him. The suspect seemingly ignored the officer’s instructions and continued to march toward him with a metal water meter in his hand.

Body camera footage shows Gerdvil, wearing blood-soaked clothing, speaking incoherently before the deputy fires five times. After the final round, Gerdvil fell to the ground.

A few minutes later, more officers arrived at the bike path and helped handcuff the injured man. Gerdvil said, “I love you” and “I’m sorry you have to die.”

Gerdvil begins to sing as officers treat his wounds. Paramedics took him to a local hospital in serious but stable condition. He was arrested on two counts of murder and remains in the hospital as of August 23.
