On the last day of the Olympic Games in Paris, the race for the gold medal between the USA and China will be decided

It’s day 16 and the end of the 2024 Paris Olympics. I hope you had as much fun as I did writing these daily posts and hosting Sports Illustrated’s Daily Ringsmy daily podcast with Dan Gartland. This is my last TV guide, but we will have two more episodes of the podcast looking back at the entire Olympics.

The Paris Games aren’t quite over yet, though. There’s still a day of sport left. The U.S. and China are also battling for the most gold medals, with China leading 39 to 38. China’s Li Wenwen is the defending champion in the only remaining weightlifting event. But the U.S. has a great chance to take gold in women’s basketball and the Kennedy Blades wrestling final. It could very well come down to the women’s volleyball final, where the U.S. is the reigning Olympic champion but their opponent, Italy, is ranked No. 1 in the world.

I’ll be checking this out on Sunday, August 11th.

This is not a complete list. Visit Olympics.com for a full schedule. All events will be streamed live on Peacock. I’ve also tweeted a schedule each day with medal events, Team USA games, and other favorites.

As expected, the US women are back in the gold medal game.

This team is seeking its eighth consecutive Olympic gold medal. It has now won 60 Olympic Games in a row and has not lost since Barcelona 1992. It has won its last seven gold medal games by an average margin of more than 23 points.

The USA will face France in front of their home crowd at 9:30 a.m. ET.

On the final day of competition, another U.S. women’s team will play for gold. The U.S. didn’t take home any medals in beach volleyball, but the women’s indoor team will play Italy at 7 a.m. ET.

Team USA has already won a medal at the fifth Olympic Games in a row. This team is also the defending champion and is trying to win two gold medals in a row, but as mentioned above, Italy is ranked No. 1 in the world.

The USA will have two medal matches in wrestling. The session begins at 5 a.m. ET. I can’t give the exact times of the matches because it depends on how long the matches last, but in the 11th match of the day, Kyle Snyder will fight for bronze and in the 15th match of the day, Kennedy Blades will fight for gold.

The U.S. national water polo team will play Hungary for the bronze medal at 4:35 a.m. ET. The team has not won an Olympic medal since winning the silver medal in 2008. The men’s gold medal match is between Serbia and Croatia at 8 a.m. ET.

The men’s handball tournament will conclude at 3:00 a.m. ET with the Spain-Slovenia duel for bronze and at 7:30 a.m. ET with the Germany-Denmark duel for gold.

The women’s basketball bronze medal game is between Belgium and Australia at 5:30 a.m. ET.

Availability may depend on your time zone, but the Women’s Marathon begins at 2:00 a.m. ET.

It’s time to say goodbye. The opening ceremony took place on boats on the Seine, but the closing ceremony will be held more traditionally at the Stade de France, where athletics and rugby were held.

The ceremony will feature athletes honored, musical performances, and I’m sure we’ll all have a few surprises in store. The show will air live at 3:00 p.m. ET, with a primetime replay at 7:00 p.m. ET on NBC.

Don’t forget that the Paralympics will also take place in Paris from August 28th.
