Olympian Olivia Reeves’ celebration scheduled for Tuesday, September 3, UTC

Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly, City Councilman Ken Smith and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga invite the public to a celebration honoring Olympic gold medalist Olivia Reeves on the UTC campus on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

The event includes a parade down Vine Street and a celebration at UTC’s Chamberlain Field.

The parade begins at 5:45 a.m. at the intersection of Vine and Lindsay and heads down to the UTC campus.

The public is invited to line the sides of Vine Street and walk to Chamberlain Field to hear speeches and special presentations from UTC, St. Jude Elementary School, Notre Dame High School, Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp, City Councilor Ken Smith, and a Key to the City presentation by Mayor Tim Kelly.

“Chattanooga’s Olympians have made us proud in front of the world, and our community is excited to honor them,” said Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly. “It only makes sense to celebrate Olivia’s gold medal and Olympic record with the people who made her who she is: St. Jude, Notre Dame, UTC and her family. I invite all Chattanooga residents to join us in this event.”

From 5 p.m., citizens can park in all available UTC parking spaces.

Mayor Kelly’s office is working with community partners to plan another event honoring Olympic medalist Rhyne Howard for later this year.

The event will take place following the conclusion of the WNBA season.
