Quin Brackett was appointed city health officer. • Mrs. WS Smith of St. Louis arrived to visit Alderman and Mrs. JM Buchanan. • Jesse Young traveled to California to visit her sister, Mrs. Jaffrey.

80 years ago: 1944

Maj. John Goodrum was home after many months overseas. • Mrs. RL Crook went to Birmingham for a visit. • Mollie A. Casey died. • Mr. and Mrs. Keith Williams visited New Orleans.

70 years ago: 1954

Sister Mary Eva, RSM, was appointed principal of St. Michael’s Elementary School, Biloxi. • A service was held for C. Gordon Clark. • Mr. and Mrs. WH Sadler and their children visited New Orleans.

60 years ago: 1964

Mr. and Mrs. John Bryant announced the birth of their daughter, Barbara Ann. • Mr. and Mrs. MM Hawkins and their children vacationed in Dallas. • Mr. and Mrs. John L. Scott announced the birth of their son, Donald Wayne. • Mary Mansell traveled to Atlanta to teach at a junior high school.

50 years ago: 1974

Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Lee Adams were the parents of a son, Johnny Lee Jr. • Gladys Healey returned from a visit to Texas City, Texas. • Mrs. Allen Hynum, Mrs. Ron Miller and Mrs. HS Kelly were honored at an Oak Park Garden Club luncheon.

40 years ago: 1984

Former Mayor Paul Winfield’s home was sold. • Warren County constables assumed leadership roles in the Mississippi Constables Association.
