In connection with the participation of two boxers, a dispute arose over the eligibility of the genders to participate in the games.

Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-ting and Algerian Imane Khelif were disqualified from the world championships last year by the International Boxing Federation after they reportedly failed aptitude tests for their gender.

However, the International Olympic Committee gave them permission to compete in women’s boxing at the Paris Games.

“Gold medalist Lijiao Gong of China during the medal ceremony in the women’s shot put during the athletics competitions of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo, Japan, August 1, 2021,” the caption said.
