Michael David Potter

AUGUSTA – Michael David Potter, affectionately known as “Mickey,” died on August 17, 2024 in Augusta at the age of 68. Mickey was born in Bath on January 11, 1956, a lifelong resident of the state, and was a proud athlete and 1974 graduate of Brunswick/Mt. Ararat High School.

Mickey was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for fishing and hunting. He enjoyed time spent at his camps in Whitefield and the Forks, sharing his love of the outdoors with friends and family. His cooking skills, especially cooking his catch, brought joy and togetherness to those around him. An avid golfer, Mickey also enjoyed the peaceful challenge of the greens.

He leaves behind a loving family: his mother Francis Potter of Bowdoin, his sister Gail Pratt and her family of Bowdoin, his daughter Elizabeth Hole and her family of Harpswell, and his son Tim Potter and his family of Pittston.

Mickey was preceded in death by his brother Jeffrey Potter and his father Carroll Potter.

A private memorial service will be held in the fall in the family plot at Whitefield Cemetery, where Mickey will be laid to rest. His love of the Maine countryside and his devotion to family and friends will be fondly remembered and he will be sorely missed.

Direct Cremation of Maine, Belfast is responsible for preparing the ceremony.
