Obituary for Dennis L. Kelly | August 11, 2024

Dennis L. “Kelly” Kelly, 73, of Elkhart, took his last breath at home on Sunday, August 11, 2024, after a brave battle with throat cancer. He was born on January 11, 1951, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Eugene Prior and Thelma Kelly. He later spent many years with his partner in crime, Denise Brassie.
Denise leaves behind Kelly’s children, Ryan (Emily) Kelly of Warsaw, Courtney (Reyes Brown) Brantley of Fort Wayne and his sweetheart, Lacey (John) Cockrell of KY. Kelly also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and a friend who was more like a brother, Michael (Karen) Christopher.
For more than 30 years, Kelly dedicated himself to his community as an auto parts wholesaler, providing vital supplies to numerous local dealers and service shops. He cherished the time he spent with the store staff, hearing their stories and making personal connections. Outside of work, Kelly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing golf, attending classic car shows, cheering on the Reds and 49ers, and helping out wherever he could. He was also very proud of his newfound faith and loved the Psalms. Kelly was known for his great sense of humor and often signed off with his famous phrase, “Glad you could see me.”
A service to honor his life will be held on Saturday, August 17, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Hofferth’s Shelter at Baugo Creek Park in Osceola, with food and fellowship for those who are able to attend.
In lieu of flowers and to honor Kelly’s life, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. To light a virtual candle, share a story from Kelly’s life, or send a message of comfort to his family, please visit the Tribute tab.
