Norme broke the Guinness World Record for the longest time a human has ever gone without sleep. His viral stream ended on Rumble after multiple platform suspensions, with police being called to conduct a welfare check and ambulances also arriving on the scene.

Norme’s goal was to stay awake for 12 days straight, which would break the Guinness World Record. While a previous record was 453 hours, Guinness no longer recognizes this feat.

Due to the controversy surrounding his stream, Norme was kicked from YouTube and Kick and decided to continue his no-sleep stream on Rumble.

After more than 11 days, Norme broke the world record at 264 hours and 24 minutes. However, this was not without numerous interruptions as police arrived and emergency services were called to check on his well-being.

When he broke the record, Norme had 9,000 viewers at Rumble, and in the hours before the marathon ended, police were called to do a welfare check on Norme, which he described as “swatting.”

Hours after the police arrived, an ambulance was called for him as well.

Norme has officially ended his Rumble stream after being awake for 264 hours and 56 minutes. Once he’s rested, he plans to come back and stream on Twitch in the future.

Since 1997, Guinness has stopped monitoring the record for the longest time awake due to the dangerous effects it has on the human body. This particular record belongs to Robert McDonald, who stayed awake for 453 hours and 40 minutes.

Norme’s time would be enough to beat Randy Gardner’s 1964 attempt, when he stayed awake for 264 hours. In subsequent years, however, two other people, McDonald and Maureen Weston, stayed awake for more than 400 hours.

All previous attempts had medical professionals present to monitor them, but no such advisers were present during Norme’s attempt, raising concerns about his overall health.
