Noel recorded an angry message and dispelled the rumors

He said the tabloid was told the story was a complete lie, but he believes they ran it “just because I turned down thousands of pounds to give them an exclusive interview when I came out of the jungle”. Noel, 70, said: “It’s clear I had a brilliant time, the production was wonderful, the reaction from the British public to me coming out at the beginning was really humbling. And I’m really grateful for that reaction. I’ve been offered all sorts of other opportunities which I’m now looking into.”

He clarified: “My house in the UK was put up for sale a few years ago and is now sold. They were told all this last week and they are still running the story that I am apparently sneaking off to New Zealand. These are absolutely disgusting lies.”

Noel was the first celebrity to be voted out I am a celebrity in December. He was reportedly the highest-paid contestant on the show, but only managed to survive nine days in the jungle. Extra Camphe said: “I mean, the whole thing is such a strange experience. I’m not lying, since I came here I just wanted to be myself, open and honest. I didn’t do anything to create an effect. This is one of the top ten experiences of my life for me. Please believe me, this is pretty much the best production I’ve ever been involved in… It’s incredible, I am humbled and proud to have been a part of it.”
