NFL World mocks Jerry Jones for his handling of CeeDee Lamb’s new Cowboys contract

The Dallas Cowboys and star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb finally agreed to a new contract on Monday that makes Lamb the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history.

The four-year, $136 million contract extension includes a record $38 million bonus and $100 million in guaranteed salary. The contract ties the superstar wide receiver to the Cowboys through the 2027 season.

That Lamb reached a deal with Dallas is no big surprise, although negotiations certainly dragged on. Lamb had stayed away from training camp because he was looking for a new contract, and owner Jerry Jones had even made controversial comments about the contract saga several times before the two sides finally came to an agreement.

Fans had been critical of Jones’ approach to Lamb’s contract situation throughout the offseason, especially with Dak Prescott also facing a costly contract extension. The seemingly pointless delay of the deal left many confused, and that sentiment hasn’t changed after the contract was signed.

While Cowboys fans are excited to have Lamb under contract for another four years, many expressed their disdain for Jones’ negotiating tactics, which effectively resulted in Lamb waiting an unnecessarily long time even though he ended up getting the deal he wanted.
