Caylee Lattimer shot a program-record 35 strokes for the Newark Catholic girls golf team on Wednesday, and Heath’s Reagan Kelly was close behind at 36 strokes in a dual meet at Moundbuilders Country Club.
They were followed by Samantha Spearman with 44 and Sadie Eagle with 53 for the Green Wave with a total of 199 points. They were followed by Peyton Lawson with 45 and Peighton Wills with 56 for the Bulldogs with a total of 201 points.
BOYS GOLF
Gilbert shoots 36
Ty Gilbert shot a 36 during a nine-hole Ohio Capital Conference-Buckeye Division event at Darby Creek.
Gilbert finished second in the individual scoring, followed by Adam Tucker with 45, Jaden Sines with 48 and Brayden Koby with 49 for the Wildcats, who finished fifth with a total of 178 points.
GIRLS FOOTBALL
Northridge beats Valley
Freshman Cora Hill scored her first three career goals to help Northridge to a 3-2 win at Licking Valley in Licking County League play.
Hill scored the game-winning goal and completed her hat trick on an assist from Ava Travis for the Vikings (2-2, 1-2). Lily Hill also provided an assist and Ava Kercher saved seven shots.
Bella Reynard and Makenna Ball each scored a goal for the Panthers (3-2, 2-2).
Granville beats Heath
Granville (4-0, 3-0) remained undefeated in the young season with an 11-0 win in Heath in LCL play.
Sophia Yanka made 20 saves for the Bulldogs (0-4, 0-3).
GIRLS TENNIS
Watkins wins
Watkins Memorial won all doubles matches 4-1 against Mount Vernon on Tuesday.
Payton Zerkle and Eva Barbour, 8-2, at Court 1, and Lidia Sanchez and Bella Workman, 8-7, at Court 2, won doubles matches.
Nora Grennan, 8-5, at No. 1, and Kaiya Minier, 8-1, at No. 2, won singles matches for the Warriors.

Watkins crashes at home
Riley Buechner totaled 12 kills and 22 assists for Watkins Memorial on Tuesday in a loss to visiting Mount Vernon (2-3, 2-1), 25-12, 19-25, 25-18, 25-22, in LCL-Buckeye Division play.
Adalyn Rhodes added 10 kills and five blocks, Paige Freeman six blocks, Ella Barbour three aces and Samantha Speakman 17 digs for the Warriors (1-5, 1-2).
