New York Giants star suffers injury before game against Houston Texans

The Houston Texans face the New York Giants this weekend and their opponent could be missing one of their best players.

According to ESPN, Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers suffered a mild ankle sprain on Sunday, making his participation in this Saturday’s preseason game against the Texans uncertain.

Nabers, the No. 6 overall pick in this year’s draft, made his season debut Thursday against the Detroit Lions but was not targeted. The Giants were likely hoping to use him more in Saturday’s game against the Texans, but the ankle injury makes that uncertain.

Nabers has not been ruled out for Saturday’s game, but the Giants are not obligated to use him as the regular season approaches. Playing it safe with their top draft pick is a good course of action. However, there is a chance Nabers can recover quickly and be ready to face the Texans on Saturday at NRG Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. CT.
