New World: Aeternum: Open Beta starts in September

Amazon Games’ updated massively multiplayer online role-playing game New World: Aeternum will receive an open beta in September.

The event is open to all players in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia Pacific on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC, with cross-play enabled between all systems. It begins on September 13th at 9:00 a.m. Pacific / 12:00 p.m. Eastern / 5:00 p.m. UK and ends on September 16th at the same time. Early download will be available from September 11th.

In the beta, players can access the opening experience and quest line starting at level 30 and unlock mounts, arenas, and some expeditions.

“A shipwreck is your first step into the clutches of an island lost in time,” the official synopsis reads. “Death does not exist here. An even worse sentence – the loss of memory, purpose and self – lurks in the shadows. For what immortality gives, it continues to take away.”

“The mindless hordes possessed by the insatiable evils of the Corrupted only accelerate this vicious cycle. Whether by chance or fate, you learn of an ancient order that stood against those seduced by rumors of power. Choose how to shape your journey as you unravel the secrets of Aeternum and thwart the Corrupted before they spill over its shores.”

New World: Aeternum was announced in June 2024 as an “enhanced experience” for the base MMORPG, bringing it to consoles for the first time.

New features include the first large-scale player-versus-player zone in New World, a 10-player raid, end-game solo trials, an improved leveling experience, new character archetypes, and a revamped dialogue system. The actual launch is October 15, 2024.
