New resources enable teachers to produce the school edition of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

NEW YORK, 15 August 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Broadway Licensing Global, in association with Sonia Friedman Productions, Colin Callenderand Harry Potter Theatrical Productions, announces the release of comprehensive additional resources for educators and administrators that will Harry Potter and the Cursed Child School Edition. These resources include an Illusion Manual, Set Design Manual and Director’s Manual, all designed to assist schools in staging this magical production.

The Illusions Guide, created by the production’s illusion and magic designer, Jamie Harrisontakes the stress out of staging magic tricks. This comprehensive guide contains basic rules and concrete staging ideas for the most complex illusions in production, ensuring that even schools with limited technical capabilities can achieve enchanting effects.

Set designer Christine Jones’ Scenic Design Guide takes set design to a new level from concept to execution. It provides insight into budget and resource management, offers a scene breakdown, and includes a prop list to simplify complex compositions, making it accessible to schools with varying resources.

The director’s manual, written by John Tiffanyis the ultimate companion to the production process. This guide offers Tiffany’s unique vision, tips, script notes on character development and staging, and a comprehensive plan to fit everything into a limited time frame and ensure directors can effectively manage their cast and crew.

Additional resources, including a costume guide, lighting guide and other products, will be available to schools later this year.

The newly published school edition of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has already achieved great success in pilot productions. In March, the Riverside School in London staged a black box performance in the cafeteria of their secondary school, in which many students took part in a play for the first time. At the beginning of May New Jersey produced a more elaborate show with over 100 students from across the district, resulting in sold-out performances and standing ovations.
