Nets’ Bogdanovic will sit out Petrovic Memorial Game

Nets’ Bogdanovic will sit out Petrovic Memorial Game

Bojan Bodganovic was set to begin his (for now) reunion with the Brooklyn Nets at training camp this fall, and return to the court for the first time since two surgeries in Croatia. The veteran forward had agreed to participate in a tribute to a basketball legend from his home country who happened to be a Net himself. To celebrate Drazen Petrovic’s 60th birthday, Bogdanovic and other Croatian citizens agreed to take part in a friendly match against other Europeans.

Although he is still scheduled to participate, NetsDaily has received news that Bogdanovic will be out.

“I have been told that Bojan Bogdanovic will honor Drazen Petrovic at the match on September 5 in Zagreb, but will not take part in the match,” the medium announced on X.

At the end of April, the 35-year-old underwent wrist and foot surgery that kept him out of the New York Knicks’ playoffs. It seems that the rehab process is not as advanced as initially thought, because Bogdanovic would certainly have competed in Petrovic’s honor if he had been physically able to do so.

The discussion now turns to whether he will be ready to play in October. There has been a lot of speculation about whether Bogdanovic will be on Brooklyn’s opening day roster, but if the wrist/foot issues persist, the list of suitors will be thin. The Nets will have to make some roster maneuvers should he not be traded, putting general manager Sean Marks in a difficult position.
