NC State welcomes thousands of new students on move-in day

RALEIGH, NC (WTVD) – Thursday was an exciting day at NC State University as move-in day brought new faces and thousands of students joining the class of 2028.

ABC11 took a look at the families’ relocation process off Dan Allen Road this morning.

From Thursday to Sunday, almost 7,000 new students will move in. Of these, 6,000 are first-year students, the rest are career changers.

Most of the families who spoke to ABC11 said they had perfected the move.

At the top of the list are of course bedding, clothing and food, but Woozoo fans are also very popular this year.

Officials at NC State worked hard to ensure everything went smoothly.

“And it’s really a campus-wide effort,” said Donna McGalliard, associate provost for academic and student affairs. “We have campus partners from parking and transportation, university police, all kinds of facilities department staff helping families move. And we have student groups helping students and their families move in as well. So University Housing is very proud to be part of this coordination process.”

North Carolina Central University also moved into Durham on Thursday. Drivers should expect additional traffic around the Triangle campus.
