- Ford has teamed up with N+ to develop a range of e-bikes inspired by Bronco and Mustang
- The Mustang e-bike is designed for commuting, while the Bronco is for the trails and is a mountain bike
- Ford’s Mustang e-bike will be available starting at $4,000, while the Bronco’s MSRP is $4,500.
You may remember the incredible McLaren e-bikes I covered a while back. One of them had 118 lb-ft of torque. As an engineering feat, that’s crazy enough, but for that torque, you had to shell out $11,950, and that was even more outrageous to me. Even the cheapest, least powerful model started at $7,950. I find weird ways to justify a lot of purchases with my “motorcycle math,” but these bikes are a no-go.
Thankfully, Ford and N+ have entered the e-bike market with two slightly more affordable models inspired by Ford’s legendary Mustang and Bronco. When I first looked at a few electric bikes, I thought, “Those look pretty snazzy.” But there’s a lot more to these little speedsters than just looks.
N+ is a leader in bicycle technology and the brains behind Ford’s beauty, starting with the Mustang e-bike series that marks the 60th anniversary of its four-wheeled counterpart. As a tribute to the original Mustang, you can purchase a limited-edition Mustang 60th Anniversary Edition model exclusively at Ford dealers.
The Mustang e-bike is intended to embody the “performance-oriented design” that was also used in the first Mustang.
Powering the Mustang e-bike is a 750W rear hub motor that has four power modes, puts out 85Nm of torque and propels the bike to a top speed (assisted) of 45km/h. That’s a pretty good top speed, to be honest, so riders will be grateful for the hydraulically actuated Tektro four-piston brake calipers biting into 203mm rotors. Depending on riding style and conditions, this model’s 720W battery gives riders a range of 96km and fully charges in 3.5 hours.

Front and rear suspension provides cushioning and Pirelli Angel GT semi-slick tires are fitted all around for exceptional handling on asphalt. In the center of the handlebars you’ll find a full-color LCD panel that displays real-time information on speed, battery life and range. For an authentic touch, the panel is inspired by the Mustang’s driver display.
Prices start at $4,000, but if you pay $390 more, you’ll have 10 more colors to choose from in addition to the standard Carbonized Gray Metallic.
The Bronco e-bike has many of the same specs as the Mustang e-bike, so let me tell you how it’s different. First off, it has a motocross style seat which clearly shows that it was designed for trail riding. This is backed up by the heavy-duty suspension and motocross rear suspension and trailing arms on this model.
A decent seat and suspension are no use if the tires aren’t up to the task. But that’s not a problem with the Bronco e-bike. This model rolls on grippy 27.5 x 2.6-inch Pirelli Scorpion Enduro M hardwall tires. There’s no doubt that the Bronco is the more comprehensive package, and that pushes its price up to $4,500. To choose from the 10 additional colors offered beyond the standard Area 51 model, you’ll have to pay an extra $4,500.
So what’s your verdict? I know there are certainly more affordable e-bikes out there that aren’t branded with Mustangs, but these designs are some of the coolest, if not the coolest, e-bikes I’ve ever seen.
