Mother reveals creepy comment a stranger made to her 6-year-old daughter

If a complete stranger made a comment to your child, how would you react?

Liz, a mother of two, was spending the day in a store with her six-year-old daughter when a stranger approached her child.

The stranger, whom the American described as a “grown man,” turned around and looked down at the six-year-old.

“I guess your mom didn’t teach you any manners…”

“My goodness, you are really pretty,” the man allegedly said to the child.

While Liz acknowledged that her daughter was “pretty,” she also noted how strange the compliment was.

“My six-year-old is beautiful, yes, but she is also very sensitive and attentive,” she said in the TikTok.

Unlike Liz, who describes herself as “pretty laid-back,” her six-year-old daughter is more “introverted” and was so afraid of the man that she “grabbed my leg really tightly.”

But Liz kept calm and remained quiet while the man repeated his statement.

“You are really pretty,” the stranger said to the 6-year-old girl. “Look at those blue eyes.”

Liz’s daughter “grabs me a little tighter” while the American stands there with an “embarrassed” smile, hoping to get the man to leave.

But he didn’t go away.

“He’s a boomer and God bless him,” the woman said. “And he said, ‘I guess your mom didn’t teach you any manners.'”

Liz “made a small, uncomfortable noise,” using the tension of the silence to convey to the man that they were uncomfortable; she made it clear that she was not in the mood to be “grateful.”

“The pause was long,” she said. “It was long. And quietly he said, ‘Probably not.'”

The mother of two “knew we were going to be here for a while,” so she gathered up her courage and delivered the news to him in the “kindest, most firm, most Jesus-loving way.”

“I would have said, ‘My daughter and I are not obligated to respond to unsolicited comments from strangers,'” one comment said. TikTok / @yourejustliz

“If you’re assuming I haven’t taught my six-year-old daughter to say ‘thank you’ to a consenting adult man when he compliments her on her looks, you’re right,” she told him.

“And then there was silence for another five minutes,” Liz continued. “And it was the longest silence of my life.”

“Stranger danger is always more important than politeness”

The video quickly spread online and parents around the world praised Liz for her efforts to protect their daughter.

“Every time, the danger of strangers takes precedence over due courtesy,” said one. “Well done, Mom!” agreed another.

“I would have said, ‘My daughter and I are not obligated to respond to unsolicited comments from strangers,'” one comment said.

“I’m so glad moms are keeping their boundaries,” wrote a fourth.

“You are more polite than I am. I have only just started pointing out creepiness,” one woman replied.

“Do you spend a lot of time talking to children? Don’t you know that?”

But not everyone was on Liz’s side. Some thought the stranger might just have been polite.

“Sometimes people are just nice,” someone argued.

“I often try to compliment people,” said one comment. “I never care how they react. I just try to be friendly or nice. I just smile and go about my day.”
