Another list, another honor for Missouri football star Luther Burden III.

The Mizzou wide receiver was named a preseason first-team All-American by the Associated Press on Monday, adding to his already long list of preseason accolades.

This preseason, Burden was named First-Team All-SEC and First-Team All-American wideout by USA Today. He is on both ESPN’s and The Athletic’s Preseason First-Team All-American lists and was on the watch lists for the Biletnikoff Award, given to the nation’s top wide receiver, and the Maxwell Award, given to the most outstanding player in college football. At SEC Media Days in July, he was selected by the league’s media as one of the conference’s Preseason First-Team nominees.

In short, if there is a list – and there are many – Burden is probably on it.

The AP named him to the first team alongside Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan and Ohio State’s Emeka Egbuka. In total, 10 SEC players made the preseason first team, more than any other conference.

Last season, Burden caught passes worth 1,212 yards and scored nine touchdowns as the Tigers went 11-2 and defeated Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl – a victory sealed by a fourth-quarter touchdown reception by Burden in the back of the end zone. The wide receiver finished the year as a semifinalist for the Biletnikoff Award, a second-team AP All-American and on both the coaches’ team and AP All-SEC First Team.

The former five-star prospect out of East St. Louis High is widely expected to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft at the end of this season, which will be his third in Columbia. Current projections suggest Burden will likely hear his name called in the first round, and rumors are also circulating about a possible top-10 pick.

MU fans will have their first chance to see Burden and the 11th-ranked Tigers when Eli Drinkwitz’s team opens the season at home against Murray State on Thursday, August 29. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
