There’s only a short time left until the second game of the 2024 NFL preseason, which will see the Minnesota Vikings take on the Cleveland Browns. To help you prepare for kickoff, here’s everything you need to know about this afternoon’s contest.
Date and time: Saturday, August 17, 2024, 3:25 p.m. Central Time
Location: Cleveland Browns Stadium, Cleveland, Ohio
Television coverage: Local subsidiaries listed here
Radio reporting: Vikings Radio NetworkSiriusXM Channel 381, SiriusXM App Channel 820
line: It’s a warm-up game. Don’t bet on warm-up games.
Chris’ prediction: It’s preseason, so it doesn’t matter.
Three keys
1) No significant injuries – As always, this is the top priority for today’s contest… and given the week the Vikings have had, it seems important to reiterate this.
2) Wide receiver hierarchy – With neither Justin Jefferson nor Jordan Addison suiting up for tonight’s game, a lot of players will get a chance to catch passes in this game. Can Jalen Nailor (seemingly) hold down the WR3 spot? Can some of the guys at the bottom of the order make an impact this week?
3) Secondary problems – Last week, the Raiders looked pretty easy to move the ball against the Minnesota secondary. Granted, the Vikings didn’t use some of their key starters, especially their pass rushers, but one can hope that the back defense can show some improvement starting with today’s game.

That should be all the information you need to get ready for tonight’s preseason contest, folks. Like last week, we’ll have a separate open thread for the second half and a recap when the game is complete.
Have fun playing, everyone!
