Starting today, Xbox Insiders can test out Microsoft’s new Xbox Game Pass tier for just $1. The new tier, called Xbox Game Pass Standard, replaces the Game Pass for Console option and will cost $14.99/month when fully launched. This new tier was first unveiled in July alongside the price increases for Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers. It’s not quite ready for prime time yet, but Xbox Insiders can get a sneak peek and provide feedback for just $1.

The new Xbox Game Pass Standard subscription includes the usual Game Pass library for Xbox, as well as online multiplayer access on the console. However, you won’t get instant access to games released on day one, and these can last up to 12 months or more, varying by title. You’ll need to upgrade to the Xbox Game Pass PC or Ultimate tier for that, for $11 or $19.99/month respectively. During the trial period – which is now open to Xbox Insiders – this new tier is available for just $1. “Any renewals during the preview period will also cost $1 per month,” though the price will be $14.99/month for everyone after the full launch.

Those interested in trying out Xbox Game Pass Standard for just $1 can sign up on an Xbox console via the Xbox Insider Hub, but it’s worth noting that “current Game Pass Core members with a membership of two months or more or current Game Pass Ultimate members are not currently eligible to participate in this test.”
