The suspect in the alleged kidnapping of a seven-year-old girl is 23-year-old Endi Bala of Shelby Township, who was taken into custody and faces charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault and battery.

Sterling Heights Police officers were dispatched to Clinton River Park North around 2:20 p.m. after a 911 caller reported that there was an altercation and a child may have been struck by a car.

The citizen on patrol observed the incident, intervened and pulled Bala out of the car.

When Sterling Heights police officers arrived, it was determined that Bala had attempted to kidnap the girl. The suspect was arrested and the incident is under investigation.

Bala is wanted for a previous kidnapping attempt on August 13 in Clinton Township. Clinton Township police are filing charges in that incident as well.

Anyone with information about Tuesday’s incident in Clinton River Park North is asked to contact the Sterling Heights Police Investigation Bureau.
