Michael Sheen promises “satisfying” final season of “Good Omens”

The end is near, but Michael Sheen is ready to end the third and final season of Prime Videos with a bang. A good omen.

The Golden Globe nominee, who plays the angel Aziraphale in the series adaptation of the book by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, revealed that he is “very excited” about what the series, which also stars David Tennant as the demon Crowley, has in store.

“It’s still in development, but obviously I’m delighted to be working with David again and I love the character. I’m very excited about it,” he told TV Insider.

“One of the extraordinary things about being part of (A good omen) is the audience, the fans, the fandom,” Sheen added. “You have to take it very seriously because people are really affected by it. And to see how people reacted to the end of season 2 was extraordinary. So yes, I hope and I’m sure that season 3 will be a satisfying experience for everyone.”

In the season two finale, Aziraphale returned to Heaven as the chief archangel while Crowley drove off in the Bentley and kissed goodbye after Crowley suggested they run away together and be an “us.” When confronted with how heartbreaking the finale was, Sheen said, “I know, I know.”

Meanwhile, Tennant also hinted at a thrilling conclusion when he appeared at a panel at Florida Supercon 2024 last month. “I know where it’s going, and I challenge anyone not to think it’s the perfect ending,” he said. “I’m not giving much away with that. I’m not saying whether that’s good, bad or doesn’t matter, but it’s definitely perfect.”

Amazon renewed the series for a third and final season in December and announced that filming would begin “soon” in Scotland. Gaiman also gave a taste of what awaits Aziraphale and Crowley.

“I am so happy to finally be able to complete the story that Terry and I planned in 1989 and 2006,” he said in a statement. “Terry was determined that if we A good omen for television, we could see the story through to the end. Season 1 was about averting Armageddon, hearing dangerous prophecies, and experiencing the end of the world. Season 2 was sweet and gentle, even if it ended perhaps less happily than a certain angel and demon had hoped. Now, in Season 3, we’re going to deal with the end of the world again. The plans for Armageddon go awry. Only Crowley and Aziraphale can hope together to fix it. And they don’t talk.”
