Raheem Morris has already indicated that his top priority in the preseason is keeping his key starters healthy for the regular season, so it’s no big surprise that the Atlanta Falcons’ list of inactive players is once again long heading into their game against the Baltimore Ravens.
What’s surprising is that Michael Penix, who is set to be the team’s backup but won’t see much action during the regular season if all goes well with Kirk Cousins, is among those inactives. The serious injuries to Bralen Trice and DeMarcco Hellams in last week’s preseason game against the Dolphins convinced Morris and Co. that Penix, who is a key backup for Cousins, is not a player to take chances on in exchange for limited preseason action.
The full list of inactive players can be found in the tweet below, courtesy of Atlanta Falcons reporter Terrin Waack. Let’s just say you shouldn’t expect to see many familiar faces as the Falcons look to sort out their competition for roster spots today and in the preseason finale.
