Mets expected to make huge offer for “game-changer,” according to insider

Mets expected to make huge offer for “game-changer,” according to insider

The New York Mets have put in a great performance after a rocky start to the 2024 season.

New York was over 10 games under .500 at one point, but has completely turned its season around and is now 61-57 and just one game away from a wild card spot in the National League. The Mets made a trade before the trade deadline and have a real shot at a playoff spot.

The Mets have been good this year, but should be even better in 2025. The Mets’ payroll will be much easier to manage, and there has already been speculation that New York could return to its high spending habits in free agency this coming offseason.

New York has already been linked to a handful of players, with New York Yankees superstar Juan Soto being the most prominent. Jim Bowden of The Athletic even predicted that the Mets will bid for him against the Yankees.

“Juan Soto has been a game changer for the Yankees this season and will likely go in the top five in voting for the American League’s most valuable player,” Bowden said. “He will likely sign a contract worth more than half a billion dollars and both New York teams are expected to bid for his services.”

It has been said many times that the Mets will be in the running for Soto, and that is not too surprising. He is one of the best players in baseball and has now shown that he can have great success in New York. He is exactly the player the Mets should be targeting.
