Megyn Kelly criticized Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, calling him the “most radical” choice for Kamala Harris’ running mate. She also taunted him by calling him “Tampon Tim” for providing free menstrual cups to boys.

“I’ve been thinking about Walz since yesterday. He’s the most radical person they could find on the trans issue,” Kelly said during her Wednesday broadcast of SiriusXM’s “The Megyn Kelly Show.”

Kelly’s comments come as Minnesota was declared a “sanctuary state” during Walz’s tenure as governor, providing legal protections to children who travel there for gender-affirming treatments – such as puberty blockers, reconstructive genital surgery and hormone therapy – and to the doctors who perform the surgeries.

Kelly also compared Walz to California Governor Gavin Newsom, who passed a law designed to keep parents in the dark about their children’s gender identity. “There’s virtually no difference, if any, between the two,” she said. “He scares me because he could actually become vice president and potentially president.”

“I understand why she chose him”

Walz attended Harris’ rally in Philadelphia this week. “He had the rally in his hands,” Kelly said, suggesting he was a better speaker than Harris. “He’s much more effective than her or Joe Biden.”

Kelly also said she felt “a sense of fear rising in my throat” as she watched Walz at the rally. “Because I know what he allows in Minnesota when it comes to children,” she said.

In an X-post, Kelly wrote: “The name is Tampon Tim. That’s all.”

The post refers to Walz’s policy of providing free menstrual products to elementary school students, including transgender children.

In several Republican-governed states, gender reassignment surgery on minors is prohibited. In fact, doctors who perform such procedures can even lose their license in these states.

“I care about children. And he’s going full throttle, full steam ahead,” Kelly said of Walz. “So when I saw him shine last night – I’m not going to vote for him, I was honest about that – I recoiled. … I understand why she voted for him.”
