Megyn Kelly: Kamala Harris needs “emotional support, governor”

Megyn Kelly mocked Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris for dragging her running mate Tim Walz to her first media interview – calling the Minnesota governor her “big white blanket.”

“You can’t do that every interview with your pacifier or your big white blanket right next to you,” the former Fox and NBC host said Wednesday on her SiriusXM podcast “The Megyn Kelly Show.”

Harris finally agreed to a recorded conversation that will air on CNN at 9 p.m. Eastern Time on Thursday, five weeks after she was named Joe Biden’s successor after the aging president decided not to seek re-election.

“There we have it: The ’emotional support governor’ will sit down with our potential next commander in chief for the first interview in five weeks, since earth-shattering developments in the Democratic race – and as far as the White House, who runs the country, how she became the nominee and what she actually has in store for us,” Kelly said.

Kelly recalled that she “used to have a big white blanket that I took everywhere with me.”

“He happens to be white. He’s her big white blanket that she needs to talk to the press.”

In an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash, Kelly also wondered whether Walz would “come to her aid.”

“If I were running for president and there was a vice president sitting next to me… a man or a woman, and I was asked a difficult question and my vice president came to my aid, I would say, ‘Excuse me, the question was directed at me,’ and go on with my answer,” Kelly said.

She wondered if Walz would have the nerve to actually intervene, because he knows that doing so would harm her, and yet that is the purpose of his presence.

“And even though she’s not using the big white blanket that way, that’s half the questions. She’s sitting with Dana Bash, but she only has to spend half of the allotted time on it, because he gets the rest,” Kelly said.

Kelly predicted that there would be “no major backlash” from the interview between Harris and Walz, as Bash “definitely has more sympathy for the Democrats.”

Bash “does not want to risk her career in this meeting.”

Kelly said Harris’ previous refusal to agree to an interview “does not inspire confidence in me as a woman.”

“Everyone should celebrate that she could become our first female president, and she is not even able to give an interview on her own,” she said.

“I have news for you, Madam Harris: This is not how the presidency should work.”
