Megyn Kelly attributes Trump’s “ramblings” in interview with Elon Musk to his age

Conservative media personality Megyn Kelly suggested that Donald Trump’s “ramblings” during his interview with Elon Musk might have something to do with his age.

“In this discussion with Elon, he seemed pretty confused to me,” Kelly said in her podcast The Megyn Kelly Show on Tuesday. “This is probably an age-related change.”

Kelly, a former Fox News and NBC News journalist, has frequently challenged the former president over things he has said or done. She defended her criticism of Trump, 78, by saying it was part of conscientious reporting.

When the topic of aging politicians came up on Tuesday’s podcast episode with FiveThirtyEight founder Nate Silver, Kelly honestly shared her thoughts on Trump’s age – particularly whether the former president will withdraw from the presidential campaign.

“One of the reasons Trump gets upset with me is because I’ve been asking this question for some time. And then when he seems to have some kind of senior moment, I ask him about it and he doesn’t like it,” Kelly said.

The conservative commentator referred to the former president’s interview with Musk on X – and noted that Musk tends to go on long-winded tirades.

“He talks incoherently. He talks too long at his rallies and these exchanges and at his press conference the other day. You get bored, you lose track, you lose interest, which is not what you’re used to from Trump,” she said.

The former president is notorious for taking sides when attacking Democrats, Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden, or criticizing the various criminal cases against him.

Last week, Trump spoke for about an hour on a variety of topics at a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago residence. It seemed as if the former president was using the press conference to announce the presidential debates.

Monday night’s conversation with Musk was no different. The former president spent much of his airtime going through his typical list of complaints – often peppered with false statements.

Kelly said Trump’s ranting tendencies were a departure from his 2016 speeches that she found interesting.

Over the years, there have been repeated clashes between her and the former president.

In 2015, during Trump’s first run for president, he attacked her after she moderated a Republican debate, saying, “You could see the blood coming out of her eyes, the blood coming out of her.” She had confronted him about previous sexist comments he had made, including calling women “fat pigs, dogs, sluts and disgusting animals.”

When Kelly asked Trump about his mishandling of secret documents in an interview last September, Trump said: “She was pretty nasty, didn’t everyone who saw it think so?”
