Owensboro Times is pleased to announce a long-awaited expansion of our daily sports coverage. We now offer our readers recaps, game reports and features from McLean County!
For the past 6 years, the Owensboro Times has been your go-to source for all things sports at Apollo, Daviess County, Owensboro, Owensboro Catholic and Trinity high schools. Now we’re taking the excitement to the next level by adding McLean County to our lineup!
“Our roots in Owensboro-Daviess County run deep, and we’re ready to get even stronger by adding McLean County to our ranks,” said Editor-in-Chief Ryan Richardson. “We knew from day one that we wanted to expand our coverage to McLean County, and we’ve been working diligently over the past few months to finally make it happen. We’re excited about the possibilities this presents!”
Justin Cook, McLean County athletic director, shared our excitement.
“OT’s coverage will put our student-athletes in the spotlight and that’s fantastic. More exposure means more opportunities for our athletes and we couldn’t be happier,” he said. “We may be a small district, but we have big talent and this is our chance to showcase it!”
Cook further emphasized the incredible potential of this partnership.
“We’re looking forward to a great year of sports,” Cook said. “For us, it’s about getting our kids outside, having fun and competing. Winning and losing are part of the game, but building a strong program and growing our participation numbers is what really matters. Sharing that excitement with the entire community will mean a lot to all of our student-athletes, and we’re grateful that OT will help us do that.”
With this expansion, the Owensboro Times aims to highlight the remarkable accomplishments and heartwarming stories of McLean County student-athletes. Our commitment to local sports has never been stronger, and we are ready to innovate and enhance our coverage like never before.
OT also invites the community to celebrate this new partnership! Come to Calhoun on September 13th when Hancock County takes on McLean in a must-see football matchup. We have gifts and lots of surprises in store!

We’ve already started incorporating McLean sports into our daily recaps, and you can look forward to season previews over the next few days that will give you a taste of what to expect from MCHS’ fall sports teams.
