A book cover shows a dead bird and a dead rabbit lying on the ground.

Céline Wachowski, internationally renowned architect and accidental icon of digital culture, unveils her plans for the Webuy Complex, her first mega-project in her hometown of Montreal. But instead of the triumph she expected of finally being able to assert her reputation in her own city, the project is met with harsh criticism from critics who accuse her of ruthlessly destroying the social fabric of neighborhoods, ushering in a new era of gentrification, and committing many even worse sins. When she is ousted as CEO of her company, Céline must make sense of the accusations against herself and the people in her elite circle. At risk of losing their footing for the first time, what fictions must they tell themselves to justify their privileges and assert their position in the world they themselves have built?

By moving fluidly between Céline’s perspective and that of her critics, revealing both the ruthlessness of her methods and the brilliance of her aesthetic vision, May our joy continue is an astute examination of the microcosm of the ultra-privileged and a dazzling social novel that depicts with razor-sharp clarity the terrible beauty of wealth, influence and art.
