The Cincinnati Bengals will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Paycor Stadium for their first preseason game of the 2024 NFL season.

The Bengals finished fourth in the AFC North in 2023, while the Buccaneers won the AFC South.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said during the week that he expects healthy starters to be used in the preseason, but did not give a specific number of snaps or playing time for each player.

The Bengals trail with 6:10 left in the fourth quarter and have the ball at their own 32-yard line. The Bengals trailed for most of the game, with quarterback Jake Browning completing 10 of 18 passes for 52 yards and one interception.

Bengals kicker Evan McPherson missed a 58-yard field goal just before halftime, keeping the game tied. The kick went wide to the right.

Cornerback Josh Newton returned to the game after an injury on the Buccaneers’ previous drive and intercepted a pass from Buccaneers quarterback Kyle Trask. The Bengals then punted.

The Cincinnati Bengals’ first offense, without wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, scored a touchdown on their first and only drive of the game. Quarterback Joe Burrow threw his first-ever preseason touchdown pass to wide receiver Tee Higgins. The Buccaneers answered two drives later with a touchdown of their own on a touchdown run by Bucky Irving.

The Buccaneers’ second line of offense tied the game against the Cincinnati Bengals in the first quarter. Tampa’s eight-play, 77-yard drive was capped by a 5-yard touchdown run by Bucky Irving.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cincinnati Bengals traded punts on subsequent drives after Joe Burrow threw a touchdown pass on the opening drive. The Buccaneers are at their own 23-yard line with 5:30 left in the first quarter.

Burrow completed 5-7 passes for 50 yards and a touchdown pass to wide receiver Tee Higgins in the first drive of the 2024 NFL preseason against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 12-play drive ended with the Bengals leading 7-0 after kicker Evan McPherson converted the point-after-touchdown attempt.

Burrow’s first pass of the preseason was to wide receiver Tee Higgins for 9 yards. His second pass attempt to running back Chase Brown was a gain, and Brown got the first attempt on third-and-1.

NFL teams do not file injury reports for preseason games. Injury reports begin the first week of the regular season and continue through the NFL playoffs. Injury reports for Sunday games must be filed by 4 p.m. on Friday. Defensive end Cam Sample will miss the 2024 NFL season due to a torn Achilles tendon.
