Marvel vs. Capcom 2 legend Justin Wong creates a new ranking for the game ahead of the release of the Marvel vs. Capcom Collection

It’s a very exciting time for fans of Marvel vs. Capcom. Against all odds, Capcom and Marvel have returned with a brand new compilation featuring six classic titles from the Versus series (plus The Punisher) and is set to release later this year.

In anticipation of the upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, Justin Wong, one of the best players to ever compete in the franchise and an absolute legend in versus games, sat down to create a brand new tier list for Marvel vs. Capcom 2. As far as players having the authority when it comes to how strong or weak the characters are in MvC2, there really is no one better than Justin Wong.

Yes, today we have a new Marvel vs. Capcom 2 2024 tier list from Justin Wong. Due to popular demand from fans, Justin has finally decided to take on the task of creating a new tier list for the game.

Even though MvC2 is now almost 25 years old, the iconic fighting game still has a loyal fanbase that actively plays and explores what is possible in it. Justin starts by saying that he feels like a lot has changed since he last ranked the title in 2022.

Justin’s tier list consists of six different tier categories. We start at the top (best) with God Tier and then work our way down through Top Tier, Mid Tier, OK Tier, Low Tier, and finally Trash Tier.

Starting at the bottom end this time, we see that only three characters make up this ranking – and the selection probably won’t surprise you. We see Dan, Servbot and Roll as the worst of all, and that’s logical since they’re definitely more of the joke characters.

However, Justin notes that the characters are not ranked in their respective categories, so a fighter who ranks higher in his rankings does not necessarily mean that he is better than the characters who follow him.

As for who Justin ranks as the best of the best in Marvel vs. Capcom 2, we’re obviously looking at the Four Horsemen (and the Goddess) of the Apocalypse. Storm, Sentinel, Magneto, and Cable are still the best in Justin’s opinion, but he adds another fighter to that ranking who he thinks has ascended to god status in recent years.

There’s a lot to take in here, so be sure to check out JWong’s full video breakdown below where he breaks down these rankings and explains each placement.
