Mansfield Richland County Public Library exhibit promotes positive social change

MANSFIELD – The Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) has partnered with educational organization Facing History and Ourselves to significantly increase access to the themes and content of their national “Choosing to Participate” initiative through a series of 11 posters designed to encourage dialogue, engagement, respect and participation in classrooms and communities.

The Mansfield/Richland County Public Library is presenting this interesting exhibit in the 2nd floor lobby of the Main Library through August 30th.

The posters are intended to inspire people of all ages to bring about positive social change.

The posters depict the experiences of individuals and communities, explore the history and impact of racism and prejudice, and encourage viewers to think about the consequences of everyday choices – to discover how “little things are big” – and to make a difference in their own communities.

This exhibit may be viewed at the Main Library, 43 W. Third St., Mansfield, Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

All library information and resources can be found at mrcpl.org.
