WASHINGTON – A 42-year-old man who shot and killed a 13-year-old boy in northeast DC in 2023 has been found guilty of manslaughter.
Officials say Jason Lewis suspected 13-year-old Karon Blake of breaking into cars along the 1000 block of Quincy Street Northeast when he confronted the teen around 4 a.m. on Jan. 7, 2023.
Court documents revealed earlier this month that Lewis told police he was in bed when he heard a noise, so he grabbed his gun and went to investigate. According to Lewis, he went out onto the patio of his backyard and saw a vehicle on the street.

FOX 5’s Stephanie Ramirez spoke with a member of the Washington go-go community who says he knows the man who allegedly shot and killed 13-year-old Karon Blake. Nico Hobson says he has known Jason Lewis for a long time and that Lewis is not the type to commit violent acts.
He yelled “Hey” and said Blake was running toward him. Lewis told officers Blake was standing in his yard when he fired and killed the 13-year-old.
Lewis was found guilty of three counts of possession of a firearm during a violent crime, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of manslaughter by force of fire of a minor.
He was found not guilty of the charge of premeditated murder.
Sentencing is scheduled for October 25, 2024. Lewis faces a maximum sentence of 45 years in prison.
