BACKGROUND: New suspect charged in decades-unsolved murder of Fort Wayne subway owner
Two weeks ago, 48-year-old Bernard McClaney admitted to shooting 47-year-old Daniel Osborn on April 23, 1998.
Osborn was killed between two other murders for which McClaney has admitted guilt. He previously confessed to killing 22-year-old Kemrick Drake on April 27 in Columbus, Ohio, and 19-year-old Artie Rittenhouse on April 1 in Fort Wayne, both in 1998.
McClaney pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery and manslaughter in the Drake case more than two decades ago and has served his sentence in that case.

The defendant pleaded guilty to Rittenhouse’s murder in 2013 and was sentenced to 55 years in prison for the crime. He was recommended to be sent to a maximum security prison, according to court records.
Osborn was a jailer at the Allen County Jail at the time of his death. More than a dozen members of the Allen County Sheriff’s Department, including Sheriff Troy Hershberger, were in the courtroom during the sentencing to support Osborn’s family.
