Man charged with attacking three Midland County residents

A Beaverton man allegedly armed with a gun and a knife attacked at least three people Friday night, including an Edenville Township man who ran to a neighbor’s home asking for help.

Jeremy Rummer, 41, is accused of nine felonies and was arraigned Monday in Midland County District Court before Judge Gerald Ladwig. Rummer’s charges include assault with intent to inflict great bodily harm less than murder; false imprisonment; extortion; possession of a weapon by a non-criminal person; three counts of aggravated assault and two counts of aggravated possession of a weapon.

Rummer is in the Midland County Jail on $750,000 bail.

Midland County Sheriff Myron Greene said officers were called to Edenville Township around 5 p.m. Friday when a 56-year-old man ran to a neighbor’s house asking for help. Greene said at least two other people were attacked in addition to that man.

“There were no major injuries,” Greene said.

Greene added that Rummer has a protective order against him that prohibits him from possessing a weapon. The sheriff said Rummer had both a gun and a knife on him during the alleged attacks. He said the person who has a protective order against him was not a victim of the attacks.
