Man charged with alleged sexual assault of 12-year-old girl in West Bloomfield

25-year-old Detroit resident Joshua Charston Brown-Hill has been charged with three counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl in West Bloomfield.

The charges stem from a series of incidents that occurred between June 1 and August 15.

Officials said a police officer on routine patrol encountered Brown-Hill and the 12-year-old girl in a vehicle outside the grounds of a former elementary school in West Bloomfield Township on Aug. 15 and knew the girl’s age.

The 25-year-old man was charged on August 16 and his bail was set at $3 million, minus 10%.

A probable cause conference is scheduled for August 29 at 10 a.m. and a preliminary examination is scheduled for September 5 at 10 a.m.

Brown-Hill remains in the Oakland County Jail, and authorities say first-degree sexual abuse is a felony punishable by life in prison or any term of imprisonment, with a minimum sentence of 25 years in prison and lifetime electronic monitoring.

“I commend the diligence of the West Bloomfield officer who saw this crime and intervened,” said Oakland County District Attorney Karen McDonald. “Those who target children will be punished to the fullest extent of the law.”
