A lottery player was “shocked” to discover that a $2 ticket he bought at a Florida supermarket was worth a jackpot win.
Edin Galindo of Tampa won the top prize in the “$50,000 A Year For Life” game and opted for a one-time payout of $815,000, the Florida Lottery announced Thursday.
According to the Florida Lottery, he beat odds of 1 in 4,815,975 to win one of the eight top prizes in the scratch-off game, which will debut in July 2023.
Galindo picked up his prize in Tallahassee and told lottery officials he was “very excited” about his win.
The 41-year-old made his purchase at a Quick Mart in Tampa, which, according to the Florida Lottery, will receive a $2,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
There are only three main prizes left in play.
